To me, teaching is so much more than simply conveying curriculum. I must act as an entire system of available support for a child. That includes academic support, emotional support, behavioral support, and social support. I need to provide guidance. Not just educational guidance, but guidance for leading a rich and fulfilling life. I work hard to develop healthy relationships with each and every one of my students. I take an interest in my student’s hobbies and passions and establish a positive connection with the families of my students to ensure that children receive the best possible experience at school. I aim to set a stellar example for all of my children. I create a safe learning environment for students and promote high expectations. Of course, within all of this, I strive to effectively convey curricular material to my students, but this does not take precedence over all of the aforementioned aspects. All of these characteristics of teaching work together in order for me to create the best possible classroom experience for my students.
